2011 Drive Angry 3D – Movie Review

February 27th, 2011 No comments

If you’re a fan of action movie with no point story and clear purpose, you might want to watch Drive Angry 3D. The movie is certainly a right choice for people who only want to have action experience without having to digest the whole story and think through whether there’s a connection between one scene with the other. Although starred by Nicolas Cage and directed by Patrick Lussier, the whole movie isn’t promising at all.

The whole story focuses on John Milton, a character played by Cage, who seeks for revenge for his daughter’s death. The killer, Jonah King, is a cult leader that deals with cult activities and wants to bring the Satan to the world, by sacrificing his granddaughter. Another kick to the movie is that Milton escapes from hell himself just to have his revenge. The movie is full of blast, explosions, and weapon fighting that requires Cage to jump here and there. In the end, the movie is just full of too much explosions and shoots and makes the movie plainly boring.

However, since the movie comes with 3D image, that could make the movie at least more interesting. But it can also be quite disturbing since Lussier often depicts gore image and bloody scene.

Foreign Movies Drawn from Distribution in Indonesia

On Thursday (17/2) the Indonesian’s Customs applied a new policy on the importing procedure for the distribution right of imported movies. This policy made all foreign movies drawn from all movie theaters in Indonesian.

Noorca Masardi, the spokesperson of 21 on Friday Cineplex, (18/2) mentioned that there will be no more foreign movies shown in the Indonesian theaters. He also mentioned that a representative of the Motion Picture Association or MPA visited Indonesia and had a discussion concerning this circumstance with the 21 parties. The result of the discussion mentioned that the Motion Picture Association did not willing change their decision and insisted in drawing both the distributed and not-yet distributed foreign movies back.

MPA as a representative of some foreign movie companies had officially drew foreign movies either the new ones or those which were already distributed. Noorca mentioned that MPA rejected and felt an objection regarding to the new policy. However, the new policy on the importing procedure made the MPA decision regarding to this issue remain unchanged.

For sure, for those who are running their businesses on theaters like Noorca feel concern and wish that the Indonesian Customs will reconsider the MPA’s attitude toward this issue so that the MPA will be willing to distribute the foreign movie to Indonesia.
